Some tips and things that could help your game

This is a post I found on the SO forums and have been messing with it for a while. They tell you about rain and clouds at the beginning of the game, but this goes into wind and how to adjust for it, as well. I have a few improvements on this, though. The 21 temperature really doesn't affect your shot much. At most, I'd say it's half a percent. The same goes for 30 temperature(which he doesn't mention). Next thing, he doesn't say much about height and the affect it has on shots. Most holes readjust your shot according to height, but some don't. Height messes with everything because you probably have your clubs ranged in on flat ground. Long drops/shots up will mess with all the percentages because you can't go off of your charts. Only thing I can think of here is to find a club that puts your circle at the hole. This is your 100% yardage for that club without weather and wind. So you work from that.
For example: My 5 iron has a 100% distance of 234 without wind/weather(no spin either, not using any spin in this). The shot is 34m above me and distance to hole is 234. I try my 5 iron and it's well short of the hole. So I club up and my 3 iron is right on the hole. 3 iron's 100% distance for that shot without any effect is 234. Now, let's say I have 3wind behind me and it's cloudy. 3 wind is(3*3.5=)+10.5% and clouds are -6%. I would have to hit it 4.5% harder to hit where the circle is. If you're shooting a shot with a drop, you work the same way, but you can aim shorter. Higher ground means the ball isn't going to bounce and roll as much and will spin back easier. Lower ground has a lot more bounce and roll. Oh, one more thing, heavy side wind on a shot to lower ground, add a lot of extra clicks. 5 wind I'll generally go 12-14 clicks into it because of the spin the wind gives after the ball comes down. It's not an exact science as far as that goes, you just have to get a feel for it. Higher ground I don't give as many extra clicks, but again, you just have to get a feel for it.

Something I forgot to explain better with the percentages on your shots. If you get like, 14.5% that you would have to add to your shot, you're not going to be able to do that with whatever club you're on. So, multiple .145 to whatever yardage and you'll get how many more yards you need to hit it at. With your chart, you can figure out the right club and yardage. It helps a lot if you used windowed mode so you can use the calculator on the side. Takes a lil while to do it fast enough to shoot.

Putting:
Figured I'd give some tips for putting here, too. For the most part, you just have to get a feel for the turn your putt is going to make with different line speeds. The thing you can control is your power. You rarely ever want to try to overpower your putts past the distance to the hole. A yard past isn't going to be too bad, but 4-5 yards can really hurt, especially on eagle putts. I see people do this all the time and it screws their chance at a birdie. So, chart your putter. Find a chart, make a chart, whatever works and has fairly accurate distance(IE, within half a yard). When you're dealing with the turn of the green, there are some things that can help. If there's a lot of turn you need to make, you can afford to make a click or 2 beyond what you think. If you do this, you're probably gonna be closer to the hole if you miss, because the turn won't take the ball as far down. This helps a lot on the 8 yard putts or so with a lot of turn. Also, on those putts(unless it's downhill), you'll need to use a little more power. You don't need more than half a yard or so, usually(depends on how far you turn, but past 8 clicks you'll need about that much more). For your uphill and downhill putts, your power and the amount of turn that's showed and how much you give will be different. For your power, I generally go around +0.75y for every 0.2 uphill. A little more or less depending on what's past the hole. If it's downhill past the hole, I'll try to get close without going past(so, no overpowering at all). If it's still uphill, I'll overpower it more. You can afford overpowering it an extra yard uphill because you're not going to get as much distance beyond the hole to worry about. Also, you want to use less clicks on your turn uphill because of the power you're putting into your putts nullifies about half the turn. Downhill, I go a full yard(sometimes yard and a half) less power for 0.2. After that, about a yard less for every 0.1 after that. If it's downhill beyond the hole, that's how you want to play it. If it's uphill after the hole, you can play it with a little more power. Also, the ball is going to turn more with the reduced speed, so an extra 2 clicks is usually what I use. If it's uphill after the hole, I might go an extra click after that, because the sudden uphill turns the ball a little more. Pretty much you want to play downhill putts extra safe. That's about it. Only other thing, the ball will turn more the closer to the hole it is if you're using the right power. So don't worry so much about the 2 lines closest to you as much as the 2 closest to the hole. Hope this helps a little bit and isn't incoherent babble. lol.

Peace

Forgot to add this, the Cad green that looks like a starfish, if you're putting from the middle of that green, add at least a yard(more like 2) or it'll roll back on you(if you miss it only goes just off the green). Anyway, all of the putting stuff is just what I do, so don't take it to be the end-all, be-all guide to putting. Hope you take it for what it is and apply some things that might help you.

quick fix on something..

The putting uphill and downhill:

Every 0.2m uphill go 1 yard. Every 0.2m downhill, go 1.5 yards less.

People more thorough than I am figured that out. So, all credit to wherever I read that over the past few days.
